I have never posted an MP3 to this site and lurk most of the time. But I am a collings lover obviously and have enjoyed all the posts and especially the MP3's.

You tube is a great tool for guitarists. It is an easy way to post digital video of songs.

Ed, maybe you want to make a section where people can post there links to you tube videos of them playing there Collings Guitars?

Anyway, here is a link of my playing my Collings D2HSB....

That sounded really good.

Did you use an additional microphone or just the camera's built in?

I have a Sony cyber shot digital camera and I did not use any other mic. I was surprised at the sound quality actually. I guess it is due to the quality of the instrument! ;-)

A guest at our weekly jam did some video and posted it to you tube. Unrehearsed, a little rough but fun. Type my name in the search window to see Dixie Hoedown.

CollingsD2H, that is a great idea. And we have a Forum Music Project and Sharing forum that should serve the purpose. Feel feel to post any interesting links there. Collings or other makes are welcome. Big Grin

I will go ahead and change the description a little.

I was playing my D3BaaaA with Braz from Dexter's personal stash at Carmel music. It is a very loud, wonderful guitar, 1 3/4 neck.

David Dyer, the bearded red head, is playing a D1 and takes the first solo. David is a multi-talented musician. He teaches voice and choral music, plays guitar, banjo, mando, bass, piano and of course sings great. I take the second solo and play only guitar. Somehow life and practicing medicine 60-80 hours a week kept me from learning all those other instruments. However, semi-retirement is close at hand and I have a mandolin waiting in the wings!

Very cool. Is there a tab for the version you are playing or is it just Joe going at it? BTW you've instantly become a hero of mine. Now with a bit more practice.... Smile Smile

I tried to steal Roy Curry's version. He plays a similar but much faster contest version and I believe played it at Winfield the day he won nationals. He is one of my favorite players. There is a tab version and companion CD on a book called Winfield Winners by Mel Bay. If you want to see the real version, put Dixie Hoedown in the search box at you tube and watch Roy go at it with his band - amazing.
