Folk,

I'm relatively new here, but I thought I might offer up a suggestion to the forum. I'll try to be brief, but I can't help but offer up an analogy..... Smile

A few years ago, in my height as a vintage Star Wars collector, I was a consumate reader of the collecting listserve rassc. For a long time it was a huge pain in the butt to read through the mountains of posts relating to the NEW Star Wars collectables to find discussion threads on the VINTAGE collectibles. In fact, many who visited the listserve felt given the sheer amount of NEW STUFF topics, the group didn't have much for the VINTAGE collector. There was no easy way to differentiate between the posts. So they split up the list and both collecting communities benifited immensely. All was well with the world. Well, at least until Lucas released the first of his prequels... Smile

But anyway, I have been reading the Collings Forum for some time now and any MANDOLIN posts seem few and far between. Is it possible to create a separate category in the GEAR section for discussions about Collings Mandolins?

True, Collings is blazing it's way into guitar history, but they are also scorching up the mandolin world with their superb products and fine customer service. In many ways, even to a greater extent than what they are accomplishing in the guitar world. They are right up there with many vintage instruments and some of the best instrument makers today including Gilchrist, Nugget, and Dubenbostel (at a fraction of the cost, I might add.)

I think there would be a lot more MANDO discussion if there were a separate category. What do you folks think?

If there's enough interest, why not? I personally know nothing about Mandolin and the first thing we need is a good Moderator who can drive the discussion.. and one who frequent various Mandonlin forums so he/she can inform all the Collings Mandolin owners about this new forum and encourage them to join.

Please do contact me offline at mail@edsam.com if you want to be part of it!
