Thanks everyone for your concerns and feedback. Sorry I haven't posted for a while as I was away on vacation for the past couple weeks. There is nothing like a vacation to take your mind off your troubles!!!
In answer to the question regarding flaking, I would say that this is not the case. It does not appear to be peeling, more a blister instead. And no, I have not sent the guitar back to Collings for inspection. I thought long and hard about this and weighted out the costs verses results and decided I am just going to have to live with it. I am certain Collings would have stood behind their product and brought this matter to a satisfactory conclusion but with shiping cost around $200, I really don't know if its worth it. Plus you run the risk of other damage happening during shipping. So, for now, I own a rare spotted D-2H that sounds incredible!

Thanks again for all your feedback and thoughts.

I have seen that before and it was caused by none other than BEER. Seriously, i discovered playing bars if my guitar was not wiped down after beer was sprayed on it (through singing - beer in your spit), the finish would get those little circles.

Thanks for the reply 007! Although I can say without a doubt it wasn't beer spit, (wouldn't drink beer and play my most prized guitar!) the concept of some form of acidic spit might explain the spots. Again, I cannot think of anything I drank other than coffee while playing my baby but that Starbucks stuff is pretty high octane!!!

Thanks again for the good suggestion...
