I saw someone was having problems with a b-string buzzing - I got a new D1 in December and in March it developed a horrible buzz from the 3rd fret up on the high e. Took it to one good luthier - nut shim (?) - no buzz, until July. Buzz was back with a vengence. Take it to another luthier. He can't fix it; calls Steve at Collings - Steve authorizes my luthier to do some tweaking of frets - still a buzz. Now we're sending it back to Austin. Anyone have similar problem? What's the turn around time on something like this? I guess I need to call Steve.

Has anyone checked the neck relief? When someone says "3rd fret up", the first thing I check is that the neck isn't backbowed.

...you can't sight down the neck to check relief. The optical illusions of strings and such just defeat it. Simply hold the string at the 1st fret and the 14th fret at the same time and see if you've got clearance at the 7th fret.
