Hi, mewbie here, from the UK.
I have a '99 Ds2H, and since new it has had a nasty hollow, sitar type sound on the B - the harder the pick I use, (and I'm a flatpicker so need to use hard), the worse it is.
It is on every note and I have had nuts, saddles, break-angles, seatings, checked and had frets re-crowned so ften that I had a re-fret done last year. Any suggestions ??

Andy

Well, the B is the most evil string and always seems a bit weird. Try a different gauge string. Also, get some other opinions.

Man, I went through the same thing on another brand of guitar a while back. Replaced the nut and saddle a couple times and experimented with different bridge pins and different string gauges and brands. It never went away. I fully understand how this sort of thing can drive you nuts. I finally sold the guitar which broke my heart because it was close to perfect otherwise. It might be time to cut your losses Andy and find another Collings D to spend your time with. My D2HA is near about perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Hi - bit late picking these comments up.
I have tried different gauges - took it up to .20" just to try - no diff.

My DS2h is a perfect fit for me apart from this damned 2b2 - altho I have virtually learnt to "play around" it. Just hate it for recording so tend to use on old Martin.

Cool to get your comments from "Awesome" Texas.

It is my dream to get to Austin to check out the music scene. I hear it is just about the best anywhere !

I'd sell my soul, well, perhaps my mother-in-law - for a gig there.

I've got the same thing on my 2002 D2HA. It seems to have gotten better with time, but its still there...
