I have one with my Mcilroy and it's probably my least favorite case that I own but not bad really. Just don't like the feel and snaps/hinges. It is light weight yet fat outside dimensions.

thanks cowboy for the reply
I do not fly so I do not need that kind of protection, but gigging with a 4 piece grass band, in as few cars as possiable sometimes it gets cramped, with a fair amount of bumping going on, & it is taking it's toll on my TKL cases, scuffs, gouges in the tolex covering etc.

I currently own a Hiscox and have owned a few others. I'm not fond of their inorganic appearance, but they offer excellent protection and are much lighter than the Collings cases. Sounds like one would be ideal for your needs.

My Hiscox case ( http://www.hiscoxcases.com/guitar_hiscox.htm ) is my favorite for around the house because it is lightweight and it is easy to get the guitar in and out of the case quickly. I would pick another case for air travel but other than that I feel it offers good protection.

I purchased a Hiscox case for my 1978 custom Don Rust dread. I bought it with protection in mind and the light weight is a bonus. I also agree with Rick that it is so easy to get my guitar into and out of the case.

I am not in love with this case but I bought it used at a great price and it has met all my needs. For the price of a new top of the line Hiscox, I would consider other options between $300-$500.

This was the standard case for Lowden guitars but I am not sure if this is still the case.

Has anyone seen a Humicase Metro in person? They're in that price range.

My Albert & Mueller came in a Hiscox case and I am not all that fond of it (the case, that is). I like how lightweight it is, and it seems sturdy enough -- but the latches are weird and it's bit on the big side. I'd rather own a Calton.

Glad you like your Albert Mueller. Any more detailed comments about it? I have a S-6 german/rosewood. Personally I like the latches on the case as they open easily.

Rick,

I posted the following last month about my Albert & Mueller (hope you don't mind a repeat!):

"I have to say -- two months ago I bought an Albert & Mueller S-3 [the S-6's bigger brother) from Dream Guitars -- WHAT A GREAT GUITAR. My guitar:

http://www.dreamguitars.com/a&m/a-m_s-3_2562.htm

If there is a better guitar for the money, I haven't met it. My Albert & Mueller is the fingerstyle guitar I have been seeking for the last ten years -- amazing sustain, rich and bright, enormous depth of tone, well-balanced, very touch sensitive. Also, mine is the lightest rosewood guitar I have ever held -- the thing is a featherweight. The craftsmanship is superb. Frankly, I think A&M is the best kept secret out there. I called Dream Guitars, spoke with Al Petteway (who is a very cool guy and fantastic guitar player), told him what I was looking for -- and he put that A&M S-3 in my hands (well, after he shipped it to me and I opened the box!). Frankly, Al felt that the A&M outplayed most in the store that were 2 and 3 times its price. I was completely knocked over by it. I immediately sold my two other fingerstyle guitars -- they couldn't keep up!"
