I have a small issue with not enough room for stuff, musical that is; I have some sound equipment and project amps that will be going to a detached building/shop/garage/lawn equipment; I want to wall off 12'X10' and seal this room off; Here the crux of the situation any advice on a humidifier/ dehumidifier? Can I get one product that will take care of humidity up or down? Thanks in advance for any info. pnc

My opinion is that you build the room, and buy a battery-powered Hygrometer that captures lows and highs in temperature and humidity, and test the room over a period of time. That will tell you what you need to do to keep it in the climate range you select. You may not need a dehumidifier, a humidifier, a heater, or an air conditioner. Also, be sure to insulate and water seal the walls (with some kind of membrane) during the construction.

I have a small room in the middle of my house that is sealed and heavily locked. To keep the room in my climate range I use a small automatic heater, with its own thermostat built-in, and a Honeywell humidity sensor that turns a power switch on and off. Since dehumidifying is all that necessary for my room, I use two bar dehumidifiers (often used in gun safes) mounted above the baseboard. These sit in wall-mounted stainless steel boxes (open at the top) to keep anything from accidentally touching them, since they do get hot.

I’ve used dehumidifiers that collect humidity and condense it as water, but then there’s the water to check and dispose of. Plus, I never found a unit that was reliable.

Hope this info is helpful to you.
