Today I noticed the pickguard on my Collings Baby curling at the edges after I put on a fresh pack of strings. It is in the lower part and I can slip a paper in for approx. 5mm...
Don't know what caused the problem as I never leave it outside its case and never expose it to direct sun light... what should I do now shall I remove it and order a new one from Collings? can I reglue the existing one? Is it an indicator of potential problem? (Most worried) Thanks for the help! |

Weird. It sounds like just the pickguard curling, so I don't think you have a real problem. Just a pain and a mystery. Why did it curl? Usually pickguards curl from advanced age or some kind of heat/sunlight abuse. Anyway, I don't think I'd put the old one back. It's curling. I'm sure Collings will mail a new one. It's not too hard to get a pickguard off. Frets.com has good information.
Actually, I probably wouldn't worry about it unless/until it gets pretty bad and ugly. If it's just a little bit I might just make up my mind not to worry about it. |

Ed, if u are unsure how to remove it, better get a repairman to do for u. Discard the old one & get a new guard. Understand Collings charge $50 for a new one. Get a dalmatian one.

I just picked up a new guard at Collings and they charged me $25. Steve showed me how to put it on and it looks great.
