Ok this is probably going to sound crazy to most of you. I’ve had my Maple / Adirondack C10 custom for about a year and a half. It was my retirement gift to myself. I love it and can’t imagine ever parting with it. I do have one problem. I have very limited vision and I’m having a difficult time seeing the side dots on the neck. When I worked with Kim at Cotten Music to spec it out I didn’t realize the standard dots on the tortoise binding don’t offer enough contrast. They are large enough but they just don’t stand out. I’m wondering if Collings would do this kind of work. I’m thinking no but it’s worth a try. I really want this guitar to stay pristine. I’ve also considered having a local luthier replace the dots with something brighter. Comments?
Thanks

Take it or leave it, I'll offer you the same advice I gave to Elambo.

Decide what color you want for contrast with the binding, I would think that silver would work good against the tortise binding.

Then get yourself a simple Sharpie.
Very carefully mark the dots with the Sharpie. You can get any color you want, make them as big or as small as you want. And if you don't like em they will come right off. The "permanent" is not exactly that in real life. A little Naptha will wipe them right off, or even some of the polish/cleaners will do the trick.

I have the same problem on some of my guitars with wood bindings. I have done this on a couple and it worked great. Easy, simple and reversable if needed.

LaVonne, Pearl dots would look great and they will help alot. It is a very easy and simple job for any reputable Luthier, you can even pick out the size you want. I have had this kind of work done on high end Classicals, since they do not come with fret dots or side dots.
