I've just purchased a C10. It's got new light gauge strings on it but when the time comes I'm thinking I'd like to try some medium gauge and see how it sounds.

Will the C10 stand up to medium gauge strings?

thanks

Collings recommends lights for their C10 model due to the smaller bridge contact area.. well unless yours is custom ordered with a Belly Bridge.

Not only the smaller bridge concerns, which Ed has exactly right, but I think mediums don't sound best on smaller guitars. I think they sound pinched, or tight or something. To my ear, lights have better tone on most smaller guitars.

I agree on the light gauge for small guitar like a C10. FUrthermore believe the bracings is also designed for light too. Even though I got belly bridge on my C10, i still prefer the light & comfortable touch of it.
