I bought new D2H that is now a little over a month old. The other day I happen to run my bare hand over the edge of the ivroid binding on the lower bout and it felt kind of rough. I checked the entire guitar and found the binding on the back side of the lower bout slightly more abraided. The guitar fits snug in the case and I wonder if the friction from padding when putting the guitar in or taking it out is causing the edge of the binding to get roughed up. Has anyone else noticed this? or does the ivroid binding have a naturally rough texture?
Thank you Allen for checking your guitar in response to my question. When I wipe down my guitar with a polish cloth I don't even notice the rough areas. It was only by chance that I ran my hand along the binding and felt it. Anyway, it is really a minor thing and I was just curious if anyone else noticed something similar. It in no way diminishes the pleasure I experience when picking or strumming this fine guitar.
Ivoroid is pretty soft. Even a slight bump against a hard substance will mar it. The rough edges have come from some form of abrasion (before you got the guitar?). Are you placing the guitar on a stand that is not smooth? You're not playing it with them 80 grit sandpaper pants on are you?
