I just had to ship an old prewar Martin and when I went to request insurance Fedex told me that I could only insure it up to $500. They said that anything over 20yrs old wasn't insureable above that. She suggested that UPS probably takes the money, but wouldn't honor the claim if it got damaged.
I bit the bullet and hoped for the best and it worked out fine, but I lost a little sleep. Does anyone know who offers the best protection for shipping old guitars? That is, who will insure it for its value and will actually pay the claim?

thanks,

B

Check with your homeowner's insurance agent. Maybe it would be or could be covered that way.
