Hey Kevin, I wonder if you can give me an update on how those John Pearse PB are, now that they have had time to settle. I ve been trying out other strings also and so far I still like the D'Addario EXP17 best, but I haven't tried the John Pearse PB. Thank's.

PAPI,

I like the John Pearse PB quite a bit. My hands kill the tone of strings pretty quickly so I have to change them a frequently. Like the EXPs, the John Pearse have a warmer, more played-in sound than regular D'Addario EJ17s. And, since I change strings frequently, the lower cost of the John Pearse (compared to EXPs) is a plus. If you like the EXPs, I think there is a good chance that you will like the John Pearse as much or better.

Papi,

Just an update. I visited my parents last week and played a lot during the visit. I used a combination of John Pearse and D'Addario EJ17s and had to change strings ever other day. My Dad played the EXP on his guitar all week and never changed strings and they still sounded great at the end of the week.

So, next time I buy, I'm going back to EXPs. The sound great, feel great and last a little longer. The EXPs are going to be hard to beat.

Try Elixir nanowebs -- much warmer than EXPs and long lasting -- I've tried both many times.

I just finished trying-out Dean Markley Formula 82R Mediums.
They calmed down some of the brightness, but i feel i lost alot of tone, so back to the D' Addario EXP's. Thank's, JK.
Dave, i'll have to try those one day soon. They cost alot more, but i do love the sound of your guitar. Thank's.

Papi, You should be able to find Elixir's around the web for about $12/set. At Musician's Friend they're about that price and they ship free for orders over $100.

I love John Pearse strings on guitars that are NOT very resonant(cheapie campfires)but I am finding that my D1A is a little too bright with them. It's still pretty tight too so that may change down the line. I have been using the Elixir Nanos as well lately and find it a better match. I always break the G on the Elixirs though Frown
