As you know, Collings offer replacement bone saddle at $25. I ordered it but it was 1/18" lower and 0.5/64" thicker than my original, and had a problem (see "Help! I cannot...topic). So, I asked to send them a replacement which I just received. They have been very nice about it. But, it was the exact same spec. as the one I just returned...I wonder they have switched a saddle spec recently. Any similar experience? I have late 2002 OM2HA.

Collings changed the specs on their saddle. Or at least they did with the D2H. I'm not sure exactly when this happened.

I have a FWI saddle, and when I needed to have a new top put on my D2H, it came back from Collings with a new bridge as well, one that no longer fit my old saddle.

Maybe Collings sent you the wrong vintage.

I have a 2000 OM1A short scale which recently had a blue stick pickup installed. (note: the preamp was installed inside the near bout, not on the inside back of the guitar. this helps to not affect the sound but does take some lengthening of wires.)

Noteworthy to this thread: the luthier said that the cutout for the saddle was too small to fit the blue stick UST (undersaddle transducer). the cutout needed to be made larger by a few thousandths of an inch. This made the orginal saddle loose, a replacement saddle had to be made. My guess is that Collings makes there saddle cutout a bit small so any new saddles need to be sanded to fit. Which makes them a better fit. This is a good question to ask a Collings rep.

Actually the replacement saddle that was installed on my 2000 D2H was LARGER than the original. Collings seems to be making larger saddles now than in 2000.

Thank you everyone for an input. I tried twice and both were thicker and shorter(hight) than mine...I could have sanded...but bigger issue for me was hight. It was too low! I ended up requesting a refund.

TA, you might try getting a saddle from Bob Colosi. I have gotten several from him for my Collings and Martins and they have been right on. Just send him your old one if you are not sure of the size. He sent me a FWI nut that was a tad too small, so he sent me another, next-day shipping at no cost for the inconvenience. His prices are real fair.
