I am about to install a strap button on my new Collings. And I saw some Ebony Strap button for sale at Steward Macdonald.

Ebony Strap Button

The seems like a good match to the Ebony End Pin.
Anyone ever try them? are they as good as chrome one?? confused

Personally, I'd stick with metal. Ebony is wood. Wood can dry out and crack. I've never heard of a problem with ebony end/strap buttons, but I'm cautious about suspending my guitar from such. If the shiny look of metal bothers you, get a black one.

Having said all that, I confess that I have a bone pin on my CW..... roll eyes

Ed, my advice is to use chrome pin. Though end pins are ebony, but it seems a lot more pressure is exerted onto the strap pin, if u imagine that. Never mind about matching the end pin wink

I just installed a ebony button from Stewart Mc Donald on my new D3. It matches the endpin perfectly. I just could not bring myself to install a metal button on this fine guitar.
