I just noticed that there's a green stain on the ivoroid binding of my CW. It must have just happened recently. It appears that maybe the green interior color of the case leached into the binding. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Is there a fix for it? Thanks.

Eric-

I've never heard of this before. Sorry to hear about it. Maybe you can call the factory and ask them how to best deal with this without harming the finish. Are you keeping the guitar elsewhere - just in case? (pun intended!) Big Grin If it is the case causing it, what can one do about that, outside of changing cases?

Sorry - I know I just added more questions to your question. Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about it. Can you take a pic and show us how bad it is? Have you try to apply some Guitar Cleaner/Polish? I use Virturso Cleaner and also Petro finish restorer and they were both very effective in removing dirt and minor scratches.

Hi guys. Yeah, I can get a picture of it. The guitar is still in the case Eek, but I guess it isn't bothering me too much. Roll Eyes I haven't tried to clean it yet. The stain is only about 1 inch along the binding near the butt. And yes, I should contact the factory. I'll try to get a picture up tomorrow.

This isn't the first time I've heard this.

For the life of me, I can't remember what the resolution was.

I'd try some guitar cleaner like Virtuoso.

After seeing your post about this green stuff on your guitar, the gooey stuff on the end pin area , and all the infatuation with soundholes, all i want to ask is "what does it smell like?"

Buster -
You really are a "buster". Big Grin

Is the gooey stuff glue or something else? Now that you mentioned it...do you soundhole sniffers actually search for the woody smell or something else? Of course, I'm just curious. Smile

This conversation is edging toward 900 number territory. Scratch 'n sniff; I mean, really!

But seriously (really), can you soundhole sniffers tell the difference between the tonewoods? I have not tried this but will probably experiment. I'm not a woodsman so I don't know if the tonewood odor/smell/aroma is different from one another. And since one would be sniffing close to the soundhole, how much of it comes from the top? Again, this is an honest question for someone who really knows or does this. I do have one mahogany with cedar top guitar that's always kept in the case. When I open it, that cedar smell really jumps out (and I've had the guitar for 3 years). It fills the room quite nicely and I don't see my other guitars doing it.
