HI,
I have been Tuning all my full scale guitars down one full step to "D" for a while now. That would be tuned to D,G,C,F,a,d. I have been experimenting with different gauges and Brands. I have found the Heavy gauges work very well, and are real stout in that tuning, but get a little thumpy and do not resonate as well...kind of lose something. Mediums seem to work ok, exept when I go to Drop D tuning. I am now trying lights with unexpected positive results. Just looking for more info and ideas..... If you Tune one full step low....What String and gauge have you found to be the most acceptable to you, and/or had the best long term results with? Thanks for Any and All Info. Michael |

Michael,
I, too, tune down a full step as these old pipes ain't what they used to be...maybe never were... I have Elixir Light NanoPeebs on my C-10 and have enjoyed them thoroughly. I will probably stick with them. John |

I use to tune down a one-full step, now I tune down 1/2 step. I use D'Adarrio EXP 17's (mediums)... Works well.
