Greetings...
Anyone know of a experienced luthier in the Chicago area? I'm looking to have a neck reset on an older D-18. I had a 00018's neck reset 15 years ago but I can't find the guy(I think his name was Steve Dvorak - are you out there?). I've been given the name of of few guys, but they all turn out to be more of electric guitar repairman, which hardly qualifies then to be called a "luthier". Hello Russ,
I would suggest Joe Campagna at GuitarTech Services. His phone number is (708) 655-1503. He did a neck reset on a 1939 D-28 for me and it turned out excellent. He lives around Clarendon Hills on the Southwest side of Chicago. |

Have you contacted Rick Cremer at Cremer Guitarworks in North Aurora? He used to work on my guitars when I lived there, and did very skilled work. I know he does acoustic work along with electric work, but I admit I don't know for certain how much acoustic work he does. He's received many kudos from touring musicians, in addition to my great experience there. Might be worth asking about his acoustic credentials. Great location for you.

Tim Schroeder has a shop next to Maken Music in Chicago, very good luthier. I had a neck reset done by a guy out of Tobias music in Downers Grove, they did a good job. There is also Rauen Guitars in Milwaukee.
