Of all the "way too expensive for the alleged benefit" guitar things I have bought in my life I have never tried FI bridgepins. Does anyone have any experience/comparisons? Thanks, JB

Several related discussions over the years can be accessed through a search for "Bridge pins." They can be summed as, "Of course they don't make a difference, unless they do." One factor that appears to play a mysterious role: how much difference they make in the sound of your guitar seems to be directly related to how much you have invested in them.

My experience is Fossil Ivory or Bone sounds brighter. Not really the sound I want. Buffalo Horn sounds the same and looks great if you want black pins. Having said all that, nothing is cooler looking that some of the figured Fossil Ivory!!

JSB,

I have FI pins on my Borges OM. I bought them primarily to match the FI Waverly tuners on the guitar in appearance, but they did change the sound quality slightly in the following ways: 1) the guitar is a bit louder than is was with bone pins, 2) the note-to-note clarity is a little enhanced over the bone pins. Again, subtle changes in sound. Appearance is great.

I switched from the original Ebony pins to Bone pins and I feel the changes were very subtle. It seems like everything went up a notch.
