I've got a CJ sunburst, almost two years old. When I bought it I compared it to a natural top CJ and the difference in tone was dramatic. I would have loved saving the money but because of the sound I went with the burst. (Not the first time I thought a burst Collings sounded better than the same model in natural.) I love this thing but the top shows tiny dings and scratches that would go unnoticed on a natural top. Even normal cleaning has to be done carefully. I admit you have to look fairly hard to find some of these scratches, but still...

I'm learning to accept all this as part of the price of owning such a beautiful guitar and I'm wondering how others handle this? Live with normal scratches or try to remove them somehow? I should add that I'm extremely careful with this guitar when it's out of the case and that I have no intention of ever selling it.

Thanks.

I do not have a sunburst, but still, over time ourt guitars begin to show signs of wear. Any damage I will get fixed, cosmetic dings and scratches I try not to worry about. Think of these as badges of honor. Proof that this instrument has been around and has been used.

I have a 2 year old Suburst C-10 and a 10 year old D2H. I play them both almost every day. I am careful with them at home and when I play them out. I just accept the fact that they will inevitably get dinged up. Guitars are supposed to be played and they will look it after a while. Just enjoy your fine instrument.
