Has anyone tried cleartones or maxima strings ? I want to try something different from the D addarios EJ16's I normally use and I am looking for a bright sound.

Aren't Maximas the $25 gold strings, or am I thinking of something else? In any case, I haven't tried them.

yes they are the gold plated ones, I wondered if anyone had tried them since they have become available after being discontinued for some time.

I never had a chance to try them the first time around, and I didn't realize they were again available. Do you know where they can be ordered from?

Here is a link but it is in the uk, the strings are german butI believe they are available in the US
