Hi Ed,
No sir...please do not concern yourself with this on a Collings instrument. I'm pretty sure you recall that the guitar "as we commonly know it to be" is a "tempered" instrument and will never be spot-on all the way up the neck. Even if the intonation checks out really well on an instrument, the issue still exists. All first class Luthiers do spend considerable time working this out on their instruments to get you the best over-all intonation they can, but at some point, physics takes over. Ed, there is literally a library of articles and information on this you can Google, by people who can explain it so much better than I could. Give it a go someday, sir. Regards, Mac |
