Tim:

As I reread my post, I realized I was wrong. You are right. The vintage option gives you 2 and 3/8 string spacing at the saddle. I was thinking of my 000-2H, which has 2 and 3/16 spacing. I recently played and measured two D1AV's at Buffalo Bros down in Carlsbad, CA. Both had 1 and 3/4 necks at the nut, fat V necks, and 2 and 3/8 spacing at the saddle.

By the way while I'm weighing in, I don't like vintage spacing for flatpicking. I find in flatpicking that it may give you a cleaner note upon occasion, but I feel like I am chasing a loose chicken around at the saddle on the wider spacing--"Come back here you little runt!" When I flatpick my 000-2H it is just a bit too wide, and I find myself searching for the string. I much prefer the 2 and 1/4 or 2 and 3/16 for flatpicking. Fingerpicking is another issue, since you have to get your fingers in the spaces, which the wider spacing enables. Also, the circumference of the neck is an issue. I agree with Bryan above that the modified V feels better to me. The true vintage neck feels like a baseball bat. But all of this is personal fit and feel.
