Bryan, I have a D18GE and it has too much material on the nut above the strings. I saw your article about removeing the excess. I'm not comfortable doing this with the nut still attached. To remove the nut should I score at the fretboard and neck where the nut is attached and will it take just a light tap using a block of wood and a hammer/mallet?

Thanks, Frank.

You have to score around the edge of the nut and behind where it meets the peghead. Score deep between the nut and peghead or you'll bust the headstock veneer!!

To work with it on the guitar (I do), make a cardboard protector that covers the E tuner pegs and just tape it down.

Thanks Bryan, Yeah I'll go ahead and do it with it on. I know that no matter how cleanly I score, on a new guitar like this that it will still be visible, now if it was a well used guitar I wouldn't hesitate to remove it.
Thanks, Frank.
