I've rediscovered my old Epiphone Cortez model FT45N which I bought while I was stationed in Texas in 1966. I never paid attention to body sizes until recently, and now am curious, based on these dimensions, what body type it would be considered:

upper bout: 11 3/8 "
lower bout: 14 1/4 "
waist: 9 5/8 "
body length: 18 7/8 "
width at nut: 1 9/16 "
body depth: 4 1/2 "

what do you think?

Willi, I may be wrong but I think that the Cortez was the equivalent size to the Gibson LG or B25 & being a mid'60's was also made in the Gibson factory at Kalamazoo.Maybe one of the other guys on the forum may have more info.
Cheers Marc

Yeah, the Epiphone Cortez (FT45) is the equivilent of a Gibson LG2 or B25 (I don't know if those are different, but they appear to be exactly the same). These are great guitars that would sound even better without the stupid adjustable saddle. I guess those guitars are kindof Gibsons equivilent to the OM sized Martin, but they aren't exactly the same shape.

I wanted to buy one of these, but I know that Gibson and Epiphone used laminated wood occasionally for the back and sides(even the fabled Banner headstock Gibson J45s sometimes had laminated backs and sides). But I prefer all solid woods. Willie, do you know if yours has solid back and sides, or is it laminated mahogany?
