Does anyone know how much it cost to have a new Calton nameplate made and if it is a DIY type of install or do you need a special tool to install. Looks like rivets used to install.

I bought a used Calton and don't want to find out that if it's misplaced, it ends up in Pittsburg PA because of the nameplate.

Contact Mike MacLeod at www.acousticguitar.net in Calgary, he'll rustle one up for you. I'm sure the cost will be small.

I've replaced a plate on a Calton. The cost was negligible. It requires a drill and a pop riveter.

If you have the tools and need any pointers, you are welcome to contact me for suggestions.

Warren,

thanks for the info. I got an email back from Mike, it's about $15 for a new nameplate. Wonder if I should put my cell phone number on the nameplate? Might be a good ideal.

I don't have a pop riveter... hmmm... may need to bring it somewhere to install.

you can get one of those rivet tools at ace hardware for around $12.00.

i asked the mister if we had one--------not to be undone he headed off to the hardware store to get one, .........you know, just in case.

Nice thing about Caltons... they come with a serial number. Mike was able to research my case, date made and guitar made for.. so happens it was made for a Collings OM2H in April 2003. My OM2H is was built in 2003 and seeing how I bought it new in October, it probably was minted around the same time the case was built. Nice!
