Hello Everyone

I'm seriously considering lowering the action on my '97 D2H just a little. Any tips and suggestions are most welcome. For example, which way do I adjust the truss rod, clockwise or anti clockwise?

It's just that my fingers have formed the opinion that they are having to press TOO hard on the medium Elixir strings I like. Although I am keen on playing loudly (bluegrass etc.) without any buzzing, I'd be much happier if I could play a little bit faster/smoother when I'm up near the 14th fret.

Many Thanks

Andrew

You can't beat the information Frank Ford has on his web site. Look around for a while at http://www.frets.com and you will find loads of info on setups, etc.

Keep in mind that the truss rod is not specifically for adusting the action. It is for adusting the relief, or amount of bow, ht eneck has. This might change the action, but the real way to change action is saddle and nut height after the proper neck relief is set. Proper neck relief is not always the same. On my OM setup for fingerstyle I use lights (.012) with a very straight neck and low action. On my dread I use mediums (.013) with just a touch of relief and a hair higher action. I can bang on it harder than on the OM and that's just what I like it for.

Anyway, check out frets.com.

Thanks for your help Rockerbob.
To be honest I kind of think that it would be best if I let someone a hell of a lot more capable do it, rather than me messing with my pride and joy. The more I look at what's involved, the more a back off the idea Smile

Thanks again Rockerbob
