Was wondering what your experiences have been and what you'd recommend for my OM. I play a variety of stuff....from Neil Young, to Martin Juber, Martin Simpson, Greg Brown, either fingerstyle or accompaniment.
I had a Fishman Rare Earth Blend in the past for a mic, but I don't own it now. SO, I'd also like your comments on acoustic pickups.
Thanks, guys.

I hope you're doing well. For amps, the UltraSound AG50DS3 gets my vote. I've been using it for a couple of years. I use it for practicing, playing small venues and large ones (when coupled with the matching extension cabinet). For venues with a PA, I use the amp as my monitor and control the EQ settings through it.
As for pickups, I'm sure you'll get a few different responses. My OM1A has the Baggs iMix and my 000 has the Baggs Element. I know that the K&K p-ups are excellent as well. There are quite a few good choices out there.
Lefty, I have a Fishman Loudbox Performer that does a great job. Had a Fender Acoustasonic prior to that...no comparison...played the Ultrasound also...good amp. I'd have to agree with Ace on the pickup. I plan to pick up (pun intended) a western mini for my next guitar. Shark

I have the predecessor Ultrasound, the AG50DS2, which is very much the same, and I like it a lot. For pickups, I've been through most of 'em, and I like the K&K pure western mini the best, and by a fair margin. No saddle surgery, no battery to mess with, very light weight and non-invasive, and a very pure sound with a signal strong enough to go direct to the board, if that's called for. Nothing beats a great mic, but that's if you're very stationary and in a very quiet settting. Doesn't describe any gig I"ve ever played, except church.
sonoman, i agree...a good mic is hard to beat, but it's tough not to move around when playing. Did you install your K&K or have it done...it looks like a fairly easy install...

I'm lucky enough to have a shop with really good luthiers less than two miles from my house. I don't trust myself to do anything more complex than change strings, polish the sucker, and play it every day of the living world. A techie/shop guy I ain't.
