I'm currently using a Fishman soundhole pickup in my CJ, and am thinking about installing a K&K Pure Western due to all the rave reviews I have read here and elsewhere. Does anyone out there use a Trinity (Pure Western plus a condenser mic)? If so, how much of the mic signal do you find yourself using? Would it be better to just skip the mic and go with the pickup alone? Thanks in advance for all responses...

Great question...I'm looking at the Trinity w/ the pure western mini and the quantum blender...don't know if that's overkill, but at least it would give me more options wherever I might find myself...and I've met a few sound guys who really know how to work the "suck" knob, so I'd like to have as much control as possible. Who wouldn't, when you've got basically a perfect guitar...why let someone else decide how it sounds. Any advice from the more experienced out there?

I had a Trinity (pure western & mic) in one of my Lowdens. When I sold the guitar, I decided not to go with the mic, because 10 I could not use it a lot due to feedback issues in the monitors, and 20 the pure western sounds great without it. I do have the Fishman Rare Earth soundhole dual sourced with the K&K Pure Western in my '34 Gibson L00, and it's working beautifully (so far mny favorite after tons of pickups). The Fishman mag lets me have some of that attack you only get with a pickup, and push the bass without issues. The K&K runs totally flat and keeps the whole thing sounding very natural. Also, I run the Fishman into an old tremolo amp sometimes for that swampy thing...
