Thanks Stixx

Is your's the Eclipse with the little mic inside the guitar?

I e-mailed Pete Huttlinger and asked him the same question and he had just put the Fishman Eclipse in his OM1A and really liked it.

Thanks

I've tried many different pickups, and it turns out that my favorite is the simplest and just about the cheapest: the K&K Pure Western Mini. No battery nonsense, no saddle surgery, no tiny little knobs to "balance" the mini-mic with the quacky piezo. Yeah, it's passive, but the signal is strong enough to run to the board without a preamp (although I do use a preamp, but not for boost, but for signal massage and, rarely, feedback attenuation. I have one in each of my gig guitars, and of them is an OM1A. It sound tremendous. Never as good as you in a quiet room, but the only gigs I've played in 40 years that were quiet rooms were churches. Cheap. Easy. Clean. Quiet. I'm sold.

Thanks Sonoman....that sounds like a heartfelt recomendation to me.

What would the appx. cost be?

Do you think it would sound good without a pre-amp?

Thanks

I have a Baggs iMix in my OM1A and a Baggs Element on my 000. I like the iMix coz you can blend between the undersaddle (Element) and the transducer (iBeam). On my next Collings, I am thiking about the K&K PWM (like what Sonoman mentioned). I have friends who have it and they sound great. Both of them go through a Baggs PADI for EQ purposes.

Let us know what you decide.

No it is the Matrix. No controls just a UST
and a battery. Nothing complicated ,works
great no fussing about with tone and mikes
to feed back. I gig with them everywhere with
no problems.

+1 for K&K. Great pickups - very natrual sounding and they do a GREAT job of reproducing YOUR guitar and YOUR playing style.

If you plan to play in VERY loud vunues, you might consider another option such as D-Tar Wavelength, or a soundhole pickup like Sunrise or Baggs M1. But other than that K&K is the bomb. I have them on three guitars and am very pleased.

PM me for a sample of one of mine.

David

I much prefer the more natural sound of transducers that attach to the underside of the bridgeplate, to any others. Two of these are the K&K Pure Western and the Mcintyre Feather.
I have put K&Ks in two guitars with total satisfaction and a McIntyre in my Collings.
I think that the Mcintyre sounds as good as the K&K and is easier to install.
It also quite a bit more money.
