Hey guys,
I've gigged with an AER Compact 60 amp for about 3 years now. I use it sort of as a preamp and direct it out to the house PA. It gives me a much better tone than I would get going straight in. My question though has to do with the "Tuner" jack on the back of the amp. It has a specific place to plug in your tuner, which is very handy, but when the Boss tuner is plugged into the amp it no longer mutes everything when you stomp down on it. So for a long time now I've just been plugging into the tuner, and then running the tuner to the amp. I would like to know if there is anyway to make the tuner mute everything while plugged into the amp. That way I can plug both of my acoustics into the amp and use one tuner for both rather than having to plug and unplug guitars on stage all the time...if any of you have AER's and have run into this problem I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Jarrod

A system mute is just a feature that the AER Compact 60 does not have. You can put one together externally for each line with a in/out footswitch that performs that function.

Hi, jdickenson.

Have you tried putting the tuner in front of the amp? Guitar -> tuner -> AER 60. Use the line out on the tuner called "output" not the one called "bypass". That's what I do and it works quite well. Tap the tuner to mute the output a and tune up, than tap it again to play.

Cheers,
David

Thats is actaully what I usually do, which works fine. My problem is that I use two acoustics on stage, and I wanted to have one of them in "line 1" the other in "line 2" of the AER. Then use one tuner for both, and be able to step on it and mute both. Right now I run my guitar to my tuner, and my tuner to the amp. So if I want to change guitars I have to unplug one, then plug in the other which makes for some awkward pauses....

You can always get an a/b switch. Keep both guitars plugged in and step on the switch to send the appropriate signal to your tuner/amp.

Like this:

Guitar 1
\
A/B Switch --> tuner --> amp
/
Guitar 2

+1 on what david (dberch) said. That's the best/simplest way. Another variation to this is instead of an A/B, I sometimes use a small mixer. Mine is the old UltraSound PAMM unit. I can plug in my two guitars and also am able to EQ it from there. This helps if the EQ settings for the two guitars are different. THis way, you would not have to even be within reach of your amp. The mixer is in front of me (or on the floor). I can also plug a mic or two into it. I set the EQ and input volumes during sound check. They don't sell the PAMM anymore but you can use any other similar mini-mixer. Just a thought.

Here's one from DOD. Built like a tank, nothing fancy, and no extra circuitry to suck your tone away.
