I can't reveal the source of this info, but it seems that Mr. Collings has taken a new interest in electrical engineering...

I'm absolutely amazed. No doubt these would be incredible pieces of art, but isn't that crossing some sort of line? Is it wise to go to the dark side? I wish I had more details, but it's all sketchy at the moment.

I gotta admit it....you had me going there, until I figured out today's date.

I heard his electric guitars won't have bolt-on necks. Dove-tail neck joints.

Truth is, it wouldn't be that much of a stretch. Just stick a floating pickup in one of Bill's archtops, and you've got a 1930s style electric guitar. Of course, I don't expect Bill to start doing this at the factory.

I heard they were going to be rebranded Taylor T-5s, but they were going to be about 3 times the cost of the Taylor.

...and I was going to meet a guy under the Brooklyn Bridge to acquire the blueprints and sell them to Taylor...but, now that it's out, guess Taylor already has them...

This sucks! The gag only ran for 19 minutes - until Goat figured it out. I thought I hid it better than that. On 2nd thought, what are the odds that Bill would go there.

But MusicDoc's point is valid - the archtop could be crafted into an electric relatively easily.

This WAS started as a joke a long time ago, but isn't it interesting how it turned into truth... Today there are Collings electrics. And back then I couldn't get anyone to believe it would ever happen.
