Hi, Does anyone know how to decipher the serial number on a Collings electric? I'm assuming that if you read the number in a certain way it will reveal the date of manufacture or something along those lines.

HI guys,
Does anyone have any clues on this? |

You can email Collings and find out for sure, but, other than giving Collings the serial number and asking them when it was built, I don't believe they can be decoded in a way that would reveal the date of manufacture.

Thanks Allen.

Does anyone know where the serial number is on the guitar?

If my memory serves me correctly... I think, on my 290, the serial number is stamped into the wood inside the control cavity on the back of the guitar. It was also written on a piece of protective plastic that coated the control cavity cover (but I guess a lot of the retailers may remove that plastic before a guitar is put on sale).

Thanks, I have it on the blue plastic; I thought most serial numbers are on the outside of the guitar.
