I just picked up one of the new Gretsch Model, the 6119-1962HT Chet Atkins Tennessee Rose. I've always wanted to have a Gretsch and with Gretsch getting back the Chet Atkins name, the new line of guitars with Chet's name are great. Mine has the HiLo Tron pickups which are amazing. Very clean and quiet. Lots of switches and knobs to get different sounds. The action was just right coming out of the box. I've been playing a variety of styles on it and it is very versatile, probably more than my ES-335.

Does anyone out there have one of these, the Gibson Tennessean, or the older Gretsch Tennessean?

Thoughts and comments are most welcome. Here's a picture.

I have a 1969 Tennessean that I just love. About 8 years ago, I picked it up at a garage sale for $350. But wait, don't get too jealous. I then had to have it refretted, the neck reset, and all the binding replaced. When it was all said and done, I had close to $2k in it. The pickups are what make these guitars - kind of a funky single-coil/humbucker hybrid that's kind of dark and mid-rangey. It's not the most versatile guitar in the world, but it's absolutely the best at what it does.

Great looking guitar - but a floating bridge with a Bigsby?

I've played numerous Gretsch's and a Guild Starfire III for years with a Bigsby and floating bridge ... I love the Bigsby / hollow or semi-hollow combination and have never had any issues with it. Mind you, if you're looking to do Van Halen-style dive-bomb whammy tricks, probably not the best combination of features.
