Does anyone know what type of finish Collings use on their electric guitars? On the website it is described as 'High gloss lacquer finish'.... is this nitrocellulose or some kind of poly.

I've seen reference to varnished Collings acoustic guitars. How does this varnish finish differ from the regular finish?

Strat-tastic, I'm sorry no one has replied so far. I was hoping that someone who knew for sure would reply. Every dealer I've spoken to has told me the Collings electrics have a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. However, dealers have been known to be wrong.

I e-mailed Collings and they told me the best way to clean the guitars is to use a damp cloth. I've been doing this and it works well. I also purchased Virtuoso cleaner and it works great.

I realize you didn't ask about how to clean them, but anyway....

I don't know for sure either, but there was another thread that said they use poly first and then nitrocellulose on top for the acoustics, so we might assume the same for the electrics.

Also, +1 on the Virtuoso polish and cleaner.
