Strat-tastic, I'm sorry no one has replied so far. I was hoping that someone who knew for sure would reply. Every dealer I've spoken to has told me the Collings electrics have a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. However, dealers have been known to be wrong.
I e-mailed Collings and they told me the best way to clean the guitars is to use a damp cloth. I've been doing this and it works well. I also purchased Virtuoso cleaner and it works great.
I realize you didn't ask about how to clean them, but anyway....
