This has been in the works since the Collings gathering last year...and now its a reality. What an amazing electric guitar.

Thanks to Joe for letting me adopt it. Of course, the minute I got it home I made few "bling" adjustments to give it that "Clem Trout" vibe. I'm craving vanilla....

WOW! Good to the truss bar cover. I wonder if Bill would try a black grain fill with white over it so it would be the negative of my C-10? Congrats on an absolutely beautiful hunk of wood. BTW, what did you tweak, tuner buttons?

Schweet indeed.............I love my TV Yellow 290 and the only thing I modified was to change the Top Hat Style Black Knobs to Black Speedknobs.

I'm into the tone so much that I'm seriously thinking about picking up some Lollar Imperials for one of my Burstbucker equipped electrics. I've got to believe that it will be a welcome improvement.

Best,
Papple

Re: Tweaks...
Tuner buttons are stock. I changed the truss rod cover (to the latest style) and the knobs. Love the "white on white" (or ivroid on ivory) Big Grin

On closer inspection, I realized the knobs were changed. They look good but I'd go for black speed knobs on that one. Since there are a few other black details, I think you need the black knobs to complement the switch tip, P-90s and the truss cover. Don't get me wrong, I could easily get used to the ivoroid knobs.Smile

Looks great!

About the colors - maybe you could change the switch tip to match the knobs. I agree, they should be the same color.

Thanks for the comments, y'all. I go back and forth on the switch tip (I have both)...the color is close to the knobs but not exact...maybe I'll just have play it for hours and hours and hours...

Pick up covers will not change. In my world, P-90s are black.

Nice looking 290. Congratulations.

Mine is also in TV yellow with the pearl pickguard but only a pearl truss rod cover.

This is a guitar that the more you play it, the more you will love it. I used mine yesterday for church and it would really rock on the songs that were rockin' and was nice and sweet when I needed a mellow clean tone.

I have now played the 290 through a 5F1 Champ, a 6G2 Princeton and a Standel w/15" JBL. Can you say "versatile" and "killer tones." (I think you can.)

Switch tip is staying black...knobs are staying ivory/vanilla.

Its a single coil dream come true....
