Hi Cowboycamper,

I'm curious to know whether your Clark Beaufort is noisy. I've got a nice Tweed Deluxe reproduction made by Clara Amps of Calgary. It's quiet when the volume is set between 6 and 9 and the tone at 4 or 5, but when you get out of those ranges, there is a fair hum.

So far,pretty quiet Gregory.

I hit on a nice sound with the Clark today with my 63 TELE Relic. Plugged into #2 of bright channel, turn both volumes to 11 and tone to 8-9. Those volumes interact and give a sound that you can't get just using one volume and the tone. Plus, with a Tele in the #2 Bright or 1 Normal takes the nasty treble edge off a bit that comes with Bright 1. The Clark has me Smile

The Clark is tempting with the Celestion Blue. I was thinking of ordering one with the attenuator.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Matchless. I have a 15 watt Lightning Reverb that works wonders with my 290. For Fender work I have a Carr Rambler. Too "hi-fi" or not, it does the Deluxe thing in spades.

Im Matchless all the way, love that Vox sound.

Curious to try the new Divided by 13 13/29amps with KT66 tubes in them.

Up till now every amp Ive tried has led me back to Matchless

Carr Mercury owners -- what kind of power tube are you using in your amp? I have stuck with the KT-66, though I think they are now being made with EL-34s?

Mine's got the EL-34's and I wouldn't want to change a thing...perfect amp.

A few weeks ago I was in a GC that had a used Victoria. I can't remember what model. It was either the 3 or 4 10s deal. I was afraid to look too far into it cause I can't come close to affording it right now.

The thing was absolutely INCREDIBLE. If my checkbook wasn't made of rubber I would have jumped on that so hard. It was everything I could have asked for and more for that Fender Tweed tone. Just a lush, gorgeous piece of ampery.

The new Gretsch amps are made by Victoria. If those Gretsch amps are the same, and I assume they are, just different clothing, they are worth whatever they cost, as long as you can afford it of course.
