A special thanks to Ed for creating this category to discuss Collings "electric" guitars.
I have to say that I wasn't too excited when I first heard that Collings was going to start making electrics. Kind of wondering if he was spreading the company too thin. But I have to say that I have been impressed with these new creations.
While there are no "new" designs, Bill has truly refined these designs making them with the usual Collings aim for perfection.
I originally just wanted to see one of thes guitars but after playing it I was truly impressed and the GAS started. I bought a 290 in TV Yellow primarily because it is a guitar that I can see as a "go to" guitar along with my Anderson Classic. Not flashy or fancy but a tone machine with the spank of a tele and the fatness of a LP. This guitar is very articulate and big sounding.
Here are a couple of pictures from the stores web site.
Thanks, Ed. The electrics are worthy of every bit of Bill's reputation. And for some eye candy, here's a photo I took of one of the guitars for my shop. I took it a couple weeks ago and showed a few customers. It was ready today and my customer met me up at the Collings factory to take it home with him. It never even made it into the shop.

That is cool to see the guitar in progress. Most of the Collings electrics are bought within the first 24 hours after getting to a store and your in case, never even made it to the store. They are nice.
