I'd pass them out if I could, though I don't know whether they'd be pink or blue.

New arrival this week, ordered from Cotten back in November ... C10, all mahogany, short scale, no bling, bells, or whistles ... and no pickguard. A superb fingerstyle instrument right out of the box.

Mike

you've done it again, you ol' guitar gourmand you. as far as cigars, considering the state of the economy and morale, at least hereabouts, you might pass out wrappers to be filled with the flammable material of our choice. I'm just sayin'......

Gosh, just gorgeous. And since it was brokered by the Queen of C-10, I am guessing the design choices were far from random. A guaranteed home run.

Very nice, you certainly don't see too many of these around. When you get a chance can you describe the sound? My guess is deep.

Yeah, we talked about it a bit ... simple and classy. When she told me it was coming I toyed with the idea of just letting her sell it (as I'm rather guitar-heavy at present). But both she and Andrew were absolutely nuts about the sound of it when it got there. And since she, as you note, is the Queen of C-10 and Andrew is a bigtime all-mahogany fan, I figured those two opinions together couldn't possibly be wrong.

Bingo.

Apparently a couple people saw it the day it arrived. Both were crazy about it and one of them is placing an order.

For PAPI:

I will say that I prefer the sound of it to the all-mahogany 01 I housed for a brief time last fall. The 01 was very nice but it seems to me that the slightly bigger size of the C10 box really lets the mahogany do its thing.

Kim said this one is more open sounding right out of the box than a couple of the varnish smallbodies she has seen. It's very warm sounding but isn't overly bright and is not thin at all. The 01 had a tendency to be a little thin in the trebles. As soon as I get a chance, I'll post a sound clip.

I strongly suspect Kim will try to have one of these in stock or at least on order from now on. She is really crazy about this one.

If Kim says so, believe it. That's part of why I'm awaiting my first pre-ordered Collings from her May/June. You know what it is, so I shan't bore you. If she says it's great, I'll have her send it. If she's hesitant, nope.

Agreed. I chat with her just about every day so I know she's going to shoot straight with me. But she is like that with EVERYONE.

Good stuff, Maynard ...

UPDATE on my post above

Two minutes ago I got a note from Kim, telling me that she just sent Alex an order for the exact same guitar pictured above.

First one to send her a HOLD email wins!

Mike,

What a lovely clip - thanks for posting it! Any chance you still have that DS1A you had some time ago?
