Ok!! I'm turning 40 this year and although a nice Collings would probably lead to a divorce(given my recent GAS), I'm going start saving for one. So here is the question: Which model is the most versatile?? Larrivee has the "L", Taylor has the X-14, etc. My playing style is mostly strum and flatpick, but not with others usually. I'd love something smaller with good volume and comfort for just hangin' n' palyin'. I was looking at the spec's and thought maybe a C10. Any insight???
Thanks Nick Larrivee LV-09 CE Washburn WD-41S |

I think many guitars are versatile. I feel my Collings OM is good for pretty much any style.

I'd also say a Collings OM for versatility, even though I chose a C10. I prefer the in you face blues sound the C10 puts out. Also, it's not as common as an OM. I play old country blues with fingerpicks, bare fingers, and flatpicks.

For larger bodies, I now go with a CJA. Every bit as powerful as a dread, 12 or 14 fret, and more balanced, with a noticably stronger midrange. For a smaller bodied guitar, my favorite is the OM1A. Actually, you could go into a room with Collings guitars in unmarke cases, pick one at random, and be fine with whatever you get.

I'm with Stixx--- and Sonoman. My D1A always satisfies but the OM1A plays wonderfully too.
But if I were stranded on a desert island, the D1A. |
