I read somewhere that any man who claims childbirth is a pleasure is well advised to do so in the absence of women. But that burst could almost act as an epidural, a kind of narcotic nirvana, to which I look forward week. After week. After week. Don't rush Bill. That is as sweet a burst as I've seen and just a smidge lighter- I think- than the one on the long lost CJ varnish. Film at eleven. best tom

northernbreed, I'm the same way about bursts. They're touchy, and can be garish or clumsy or lurid. Collings doesn't do those things. Even the bursts that don't appeal to my particular aesthetic (or anesthetic) are beautifully, artfully done. Yeah, I'm still waiting for mine, the Moby Guitar, more myth than creature. tom

LCGEEK's OM is absolutely gorgeous. I vote it the best Collings sunburst OM I've ever seen.

Agreeth.

I saw a D-18V that looked like they laid a rectangular cardboard over the top and sprayed it on a Friday before a holiday.

In March, while on the shop tour, I meet the man who did the burst on my DS1A-sb. Told him he nailed it. It was 3 shots from a double-barrel. Rolled a 300. He smiled. Lots of pride in that building on 290 West.

By the way Tom, I had them pull your name up on the computer and we found your mother-of-all-guitars-and by which all shall forever be judged "Insomniaman Signature" model in the back room.

There was a moment of silence.

Hey, El Jefe, you can't drop a juicy tidbit in front of a starving man and not provide more details. You actuall SAW it? It exists? What's the burst like? Wood? Anything? Please? tom
p.s. you're right about some of the Martin, and other, bursts, that look like they were sprayed by taggers with a can of black, a can of red, and a can of orange. ugh. tm

Tom, I talk to Kim every day and basically I've just been telling her to put you off as long as possible. She's had the guitar since May.

Perhaps a brief tale would be appropriate.

After Alex, the chief security officer, checked my WPP (witness protection program) id, I was blindfolded, taken to the rear of the building and went down a steep staircase. The air was musty and dank with the smell of wood. By the way, this is where the restrooms are. I was taken to a section where they removed the blindfold and I saw the carpeted slots where guitar amputees await their new limbs.

For security reasons, I can't tell you the serial number but I will say that it will be remembered like Tony Rice's CW 58957. People will use these numbers when they buy their lottery tickets.

The room was known as "Guitar Timeout". And then I saw it next to the Black & Decker jigsaw.
Are center holes hard to cut out? Naw...give it try he said. And with the sound of 110 vac echoing through the room, I made me a memo like a World Series homerun ball at Yankee Stadium. What's it worth?

I did learn that to make a guitar, you start with fine wood and cut off all the bad notes.
