the whole scene would work better near Devils Tower in NE Wyoming. Close Encounters of the Varnish Kind. It's hot there in the summer. Real hot, but not Death Valley/Middle East hot.

QUOTE "Ok, Ok we've all heard the great attributes of varnish but tell me: if I were to stand on the tarmac in the middle of Death Valley in August right under a hole in the ozone layer and there was at that moment a major solar flare that unloaded many bushels of UV radiation then how would your varnish hold up?...answer me that."

Collinscowboy, I would'nt want to be out in that heat with any guitar let alone a varnish Collings guitar.

I suppose the neck may feel a wee bit sticky in the hand, but I'd deal with it! Big Grin

You know Papi, us lacquer guys don't worry about the heat....I could be playing Muskrat Love in D-modal tuning with Anton Chigur (No Country for Old Men) on Pluto and be fine.

too many fleas on Pluto, and it's been downgraded to an asteroid. Muskrat Love? The Captain and Freaking Tenille, or however she spelled her name? Shame on you. Must be another song by the same title. Mustang Sally, maybe, but rodent romance don't get it done- except for Ratatoille, or however you spell the dish, or the movie. Not a good night for me and Franco-American words. tom

Well, in keeping with the difficult circumstances of the venue (dog days of summer?) and picking partner it was a toss-up between Muskrat Love or Mandy by Barry Man-is-he-low. Me, I'd prefer Fingernails On The Chalkboard.... but I don't have the tab to it.

MRT,
I wouldn't worry too much, it gets pretty hot where she was born so she's bred to burn it up. Big Grin

is "dwarf" planet technically and politically correct? Might it be a mass-challenged planet, or a little person's planet? With the universe as huge as it is- which is to say, Stephen Hawking notwithstanding, infinite and growing, do we have time to split hairs of relative stature, unless time is elastic and this exchange may not have yet taken place? Back to you, Dick and Dan.

Maybe one thing worse than a tune about muskrats in love was when Michael Jackson sang a love ballad directly to a rat ("Ben") . . . A human falling for a rat is slightly weirder than two rodents falling for each other.

It may not be politically correct but it is how those guys with the pocket protectors refer to it these days.

Was that song really about Ben the rat? Weird indeed.
