I've had my all mahogany Collings 00 for a few weeks now. I love this guitar, but I'm wondering if any of you have experimented with different string types with a Collings mahogany top.
I've got John Pearse PB Lights on there right now. I'm considering putting some Nanoweb PBs on there next just because the slothead is a bit of a pain to string. Anyone have any other recommendations?
Jason, I have used Elixir PB's on my 1952 00-17 since last July and they sound fine on this all mahogany little gem. I also put a set on my new all Mahogany Collings OM as soon as I got it and they sound just fine on this one as well. I kill uncoated strings in less than an hour so I won't even try them anymore. The 00-17 has had every type of coated strings available on it and The Elixir PB's are the best of the lot IMHO. Brian
Jason, I use Nanowebs on 'seldom' guitars like the Tacoma Papoose but in terms of long-life strings my (spruce/mahogany) Collings really, really loves D'Addario EXP 80/20's... try some.
