Some time ago I was asked to play at a charity concert to raise some money for Macmillan Cancer Support here in England. The event took place last night at a small cellar bar with enough room for around 100 people. There was the usual fund raising auction and raffle plus the entrance charge so a reasonable sum of money was raised.
The PA and sound man was provided by one of the bands taking part but because of time restrains a sound check was impossible. When it came to my turn I was positioned centre stage with an instrument microphone pointing in the general direction of the sound hole of my Collings D2AV varnish and a vocal microphone somewhere near my mouth. However after I came off stage criticism was offered in my direction at the excess volume level of my guitar over the vocals during the first couple of songs. Needless to say I immediately asked the sound engineer what the problem was. His reply was “I took all the volume off your guitar microphone and beefed up your vocals which solved the problem”. He went on to say he had never come across an acoustic guitar with such projection. And I was only using a light pick!! (Dunlop Tortex .73) Who needs a Marshall stack and Gibson Les Paul when you already have cannon in your hands. |

That's quite the direct irrefutable feedback bob.
My 000 has oustanding projection too. Great story. Stuart _________________________ Collings 000-3C (2006) Kim Walker L-00 (Nick Lucas) Martin 0-18 1923 |
