Hi folks, sorry for the delay in reporting back - high school soccer games the past two nights have kept me out of the house.
The guitar is awesome and has exceeded my expectations in every respect! It is not tight as I thought it would be (short scale?), and the sound is fatter in the trebles and has a much more pronounced thumping bass than I expected (don't know why). The neck profile is perfect for me and cosmetically it looks nearly unplayed for a guitar built in 2004. Lastly, the burst is phenomenal, and I'm a big fan of bursts.
I am absolutely thrilled!

You go, Spock! I'm stifling my envy pretty successfully, and smiling at your enthusiasm. It reflects my own when my two Collings arrived, about a year apart. Don't be too surprised at not finding it tight: quite a few Collings are reasonably open right out of the box. Have fun with it! So......when do we see pics, hmmmm? Cheers!

the cool thing is your hearing will adjust to the guitar, and a few days from now you'll start to realize just how freakin' great these guitars are! I just got a mint used OM1A short scale cutaway last week, and I know it can't get better every day, but it seems to do just that. My fifteen Collings (GAS Anon.), of which I retain five. The best five. So far. Yeah, I'm a sick puppy.

Pics, which are not that great and don't do the guitar justice, are up in the photo gallery.

Gorgeous. I love the simplicity of the elegant unbound headstock. And you say it sounds good, too?
