Collings CJ Short Scale
Madagascar RW b/s
German spruce top with Adirondack braces
Tortoise bindings (body, headstock, fretboard)
Flourish headstock, Mom fretboard inlays
Abalone rosette
Waverly gold tuners with Ebony knobs
Nut 1 3/4"

I reluctantly traded back my D1AVSB to Steve at AMW, so if anyone's looking for a great 'hog, it should be there next week.
WOW. If for whatever reason you change your mind, can I have first dibs on this new CJ? Big Grin

Does anyone know what the upcharge is for Madagascar Rosewood, and what are the sound differences between East Ind Rw /Braz RW /Mad RW.

Very Cool

I am also waiting on a MadRose/Ad Om3c around Sept.
Seems like Mad Rose is around the same price Brazillian was before all the B A AA AAA grading.

Lets hope there enough not to start grading.

Good thing is Bruce at Collings doesnt like to make back out of 4 pieces like some of the other guitars makers Ive owned so he waits to find a good piece large enough.

How does Honduran Rswd compare for those who have tried both. Ive had some makers say they prefer it to Mad Rose.

OK, but I'm a big MadRW fan, so I'm planning on keeping this one for a while. The MadRW upcharge was $1000, not bad compared to other builders. I think MadRW has a little more fundamental sound than Brazilian, the short scale and German top should complement it very well.

that's the best looking mad rose I've seen yet, and the photos make me hydrophobic for the more modest mahogany/adirondack short scale varnish due...... um, soon. Yours is way fancier than mine, but it fits the wood. Mine's tortoise bound throughout, rosette and soundhole ring and all. Austere, in a Shaker kind of way: beauty in minimalism, or some horse hockey like that. tone. That's all I'm looking for. Oh, and mine's a burst. I think. It's been sooooo long. boo hoo, I know. tom

Boiler...I saw it today in person and it is gorgeous and amazing!!! While I was there Steve received a UPS delivery...among other things in the order the oval hole mandolin (one of the sweetest sounding mandos I've personally ever heard) and a sick Varnish CJMhAssSB (as Sonoman drools).

Damn I'm glad those two guitars were spoken for!!!

Warning, Tom, do NOT go to the AMW website and look at that absolutely drop dead gorgeous Varnish CJMhAssSB (I think that's the new one that just arrived). Lucky owner is K.B.
