Go to the following post to see pics of wood bindings that I had custom ordered on my Collings OO. The OO has a torch inlay on the headstock and has an Engleman top, with East Indian Rosewood back and sides. The Koa wood binding is really striking and was done with marvelous detail and precision.

The Engleman top on a OO is a very good choice as it adds lots of warmth and overtones/complexity. This is a really "sweet" sounding guitar.

The wood binding custom option is not cheap. But, well worth it, I belive, if you really want a one of a kind guitar. The Collings OO2HE I have is the only lefty ever made with wood bindings.

If you have not played a Collings 12 fretter, you owe yourself a chance to play one. They are really special.

Taboo. Collings does everything for a reason. Huss and Dalton,Goodall and many others use wood binding. Collings are perrrrrrrfect just the way they are. It doesnt nick and get banged up as bad too.

John,

No, Lefty's koa bound 00 is NOT taboo! It's one of the prettiest touches I've ever seen on a guitar, period. The pictures don't do it complete justice. I was fortunate enough to "borrow" this guitar from Lefty for a few months, so I know the guitar intimately. I wouldn't hesitate to order the same thing if I ordered a new Collings. What an awesome accent!

Ed, that Braz/Ad sunburst OM of Lefty's? Ummm, it's the 000 that I posted pics of earlier. eek

My Braz/German 000-2H has koa body binding. The binding is absolutely gorgeous. I much prefer wood binding to an "-oid". Sounds great too!

John....funny thing you brought this up.

I just ordered a Goodall with ivoriod bindings.

Sorry, I could not resist.

You are right and the ivoroid bindings, the are pure and elagtant, even layed (I really think that looks cool). I just got a brain strom and wanted something different in a Collings.

I am glad I did it.
