Well I have gone and done it. I sold my Santa Cruz D 12 fret D slot head and purchased a Collings D1A. I love the sound of the Collings. The Santa Cruz worked well for flat picking but the D1A does everything I need for it to do and then some.

Thanks to all who helped me to make this decision.

Peace,
Rip

I traded in an SCGC H13 and a SCGC OM for my two Collings. I am with you. I love my guitars, and have never looked back......

I just picked up my Collings D1A yesterday (the seller was in Portland and my son did the transaction for me). I played it while I was in Portland but did not buy it because I had to return to Seattle while the shop was closed on Sunday.

I love the sound of this guitar. My wife, who usually can’t hear the difference between guitars, remarked that this one sounded unique and that it sounded more beautiful than any other guitars I have played.

I used to own a Santa Cruz F cutaway Koa with Sitka top and a SCGC D 12 fret. These are nice guitars but IMHO and my wife’s humble opinion (I was going to put HO but I didn’t want you to get the wrong impression) the Collings is in a league by itself.

I woke up this morning dreaming about playing it.

I am a fortunate person.

Peace,
Rip

Rip:
I know what you are saying about craving to play your D1A. Enjoy it !! and you are welcome about the buying advice, but I think you did not need much help after playing it for the first time. Smile
