G as in "Good God Almighty!" What could be prettier than that? Plus that guitar! I don't think I have heard a Collings (or any other guitar for that matter) with a richer bass. Thanks for sharing your gifts with us Redavide.

very nice... seemed some recording things could be better? Maybe mic was too close, getting too much bass proximity? I've found that if a condenser mic is placed in front of the sound hole, the air from the sound hole is enough to cause the bass notes to distort. Could be an AT4033, a classic mic. I have one as well.

B Woods: You're too nice and I appreciate the comments -- say hello to your brother and tell him I hope his knee's ready for the U.S. Open . . .

Kenny B: Thanks for listening -- once again I think your ears are correct -- either the mic (AT4050CM5) was probably a little too close to the hole or maybe the pre-amp gain was a little high. It's tricky getting a decent sound with a consumer camcorder because there's an automatic compressor in the camera that can't be switched off. One of these days, I'm going to buy a good sound card and start recording directly into the computer in stereo . . .

redavide, just do a practice video with mic placement... I've tried pointing at the 12th fret or maybe even the bridge.. just as long as it is not directly in front of the sound hole. Just play a little, move the mic, play a little, etc. Listen back and you'll find what mic position and angle works best. Also, there's no telling what youtube does to the audio, further compression maybe? Either way, I've heard good audio on youtube and I don't think you other videos had this same problem.

Kenny B.: That's really what I do -- put on some headphones and move around the mic until I think it sounds OK. But, it's Youtube and I don't have a lot of time to record things as good as I'd like to, I just want to get something out there for others to hear without a lot of fuss. My aim is to set up quickly, play a few takes and use the best one. Usually I can set up, warm-up, record the tune, put it on the computer and download it to Youtube in about one hour. Sometimes I feel I've played and/or recorded better than at other times. It's fun and it's interesting. On to the next tune . . .
