Great piece -- extraordinary playing and recording . . . Thanks.

Which guitar did you use? How did you record it?

Thanks redavide. That means alot coming from you. I have great respect for your playing. As far as the guitar is concerned, it was recorded with a 1994 Collings OM-3 Adirondack/Brazilian that has aged beautifully and sounds better than ever.

As far as the recording gear, I used a Focusrite Safire firewire interface into my computer and a Shure SM-81 condensor mic. Very minimal processing. It is nearly a dry signal with just a very slight touch of reverb.

I just changed out the saddle from the original bone to an elephant ivory (not fossilized) saddle and it really made a great guitar even a bit better. Thanks.

That is definately one of my favorite pieces that Ed has ever done. Nice job on the playing, your guitar sound great and it's not even a varnish finish? how can that be? Red Face

I asked Ed to play this during a workshop and he was like 'out of touch' with the piece, apparently needed to be worked up again.

kudos to you for spending the time and energy to learn this piece.

beautiful playing - your recording is just terrific. What is the tunning? The low end on your guitar just sounds amazing - I sure appreciate you sharing your talents, dale.

Thanks Dale. The tuning on that piece is EADEAE. As for the guitar, it really is sounding good these days. I bought it in 94 and it really has improved over the last few years. Thanks again.
